Express Entry is an application management system used by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to handle and process applications for three of Canada’s government skilled worker immigration programs.
Express Entry is a competitive migration system that ranks all eligible candidates against one another before inviting the top-ranked individuals to apply for permanent residency in Canada. Candidates are compared based on their age, education and learning, language proficiency, work experience, and a variety of other factors.

Overview of the Express Entry Job Offer
While having a job offer is not required for anyone applying for permanent residence through the Express Entry system, those who do will have a better chance of being invited to apply.
The following are the current new rules:
- Applicants who have completed an LMIA for a position as a senior manager (NOC 00) as defined by the National Occupational Code will get 200 points.
- All other occupations described in the National Occupational Code (NOC 0, A, and B) will receive 50 points for applicants having an LMIA.
- Applicants working in Canada under an employer-specific work permit backed by an existing LMIA or providing significant benefit to Canada (Intra-Company Transferee); NAFTA or other international agreement, under an employer-specific work permit and have accumulated at least one year of work experience; in a managerial skill level position (NOC OO) will receive 200 points.
- Applicants working in Canada under an employer-specific work permit backed by an existing LMIA, or providing significant benefit to Canada (Intra-Company Transferee); NAFTA or other international agreement, under an employer-specific work permit and have accumulated at least one year of work experience; with a skill level position O, A, or B under the National Occupational Code; Skilled Trade (NOC B), will receive 50 points.
Applicants who have accepted a job offer must update their Express Entry profiles with the following information:
- Name and address of the employer
- The job’s start date
- Number of Labor Market Impact Assessments
- The job’s National Occupation Classification code is
A valid employment offer under the Federal Skilled Trades program must include the following elements:
- Produced by a single employer or by two employers at the same time
- For long-term, full-time employment (at least 30 hours per week)
- For at least a year’s worth of effort
Be for employment that falls under the National Occupation Classification database’s “Skilled Trade” division. These occupations will be identified by codes that begin with the numbers:
Applicants must additionally meet ONE of the following two requirements to be considered for this program:
- Employment and Social Development Canada has given the employer making the job offer a good Labour Market Impact Assessment.
- The applicant is currently employed in Canada under a work visa that was granted following the completion of a Labour Market Impact Assessment AND,
- It’s a skilled trade profession (see section above).
- The applicant is employed by the company specified on his or her work visa.
- On the day he or she files for permanent residency, the applicant is permitted to work in Canada.
- On the day when a prospective permanent residence visa is obtained, the applicant will be permitted to work in Canada.
- If the application is approved for permanent residence, his or her existing employer has offered the applicant a full-time position.
All Applicants Must Meet Additional Requirements
An applicant must be able to persuade Canadian immigration officials that they are capable of completing the work they have been promised in order for a job offer to be genuine. If the work in question is regulated in Canada, the applicant must also be able to demonstrate that they will be able to obtain the necessary licenses or certificates once they arrive.
Note that in Canada, trades and professions are regulated by provincial governments. As a result, applicants are recommended to contact the government of the province in which they desire to live to learn about necessary regulatory requirements.
A job offer shall be void if it includes work at the following locations:
- Canada has an embassy.
- Canada has a high commission.
- Canada has a consulate.
How to Get a Job Offer in Canada Through Express Entry
1. While Express Entrance streamlines a portion of the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), candidates must still qualify for one of the three government programs to be considered for the Express Entry pool.
Though the requirements for each of the Express Entry-aligned programs differ, all applicants must have at least one year of relevant work experience and a certain level of proficiency on an approved language exam in either English or French. In addition, all Express Entry applicants are screened for criminal histories as well as medical concerns that could render them inadmissible.
2. Create an Express Access account: Those who are eligible must create an Express Access profile and submit it to the pool of candidates. The Express Access account acts as a rate of interest expression (EOI). Qualified candidates will receive an instant score based on their profile and will be compared to the other candidates in the pool.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used to calculate the Express Access ranking score, which includes over 1,200 parameters. Candidates can raise their CRS scores and hence improve their ranking. The higher a candidate’s CRS score, the more likely they are to receive an Invitation to Use (ITA),.
In Express Access attracts, the CRS rating is used as a cut-off point. Its purpose is to forecast a prospect’s chances of financial success in Canada. It evaluates candidates based on their work and educational backgrounds, language abilities, and if they have already obtained a qualifying job offer or rural election in Canada, among other considerations.
If a candidate has a valid job offer from a Canadian company or has received a provincial nomination, they can get bonus points.
3. Create a profile for a job bank (optional): Prospects who do not have a job offer or a rural nomination can then register with the Canada Job Bank, a free public resource that helps Canadian employers find and hire people with the skills they need. This step used to be mandatory, but it has been elective since June 2017.
4. Obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA): Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) holds Express Access draws on a regular basis (typically every two weeks). Candidates who achieve a specific rank in these Express Entry competitions are encouraged to apply for permanent residence in Canada. 5. Improve your CRS score: Prospects who have not yet been chosen in the pool can improve their Express Access account and score. They can do so by sending out new and updated information. Boosted language scores, reviews of academic qualifications, including more work experience, and/or receiving a qualifying employment offer or a provincial election are examples.
6. Submit your irreversible residency application: If you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you will have 60 days to submit a complete application for irreversible residence. You will very probably be required to provide detailed personal information as well as supporting documents in this application. The entire application is submitted via the internet.

What are the prerequisites for creating an Express Access profile?

All Express Entrance candidates must pass a language test in either English or French. To submit your profile, you’ll need primary test scores from a recognized language exam. The minimum required score for each of the three Express Entry-aligned programs varies.

The Educational Qualifications Evaluation (ECA) is a Canadian-based examination of non-Canadian education and learning. Note that curriculum completed in Canada do not require an ECA.
Passport: To submit an Express Access profile, you must have a valid ticket. When obtaining a ticket is impossible, alternate identity records may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

How long does it take to consider Express Entry to Canada?
Express Entrance is a program that allows people to enter Canada quickly.
